NOAA SWPC 3-day forecast

A. NOAA Geomagnetic Activity Observation and Forecast

The greatest observed 3 hr Kp over the past 24 hours was 2 (below NOAA
Scale levels).
The greatest expected 3 hr Kp for Nov 06-Nov 08 2026 is 5.00 (NOAA Scale
G1).

NOAA Kp index breakdown Nov 06-Nov 08 2026

             Nov 06 Nov 07 Nov 08
00-03UT 2.33 5.00 (G1) 4.00
03-06UT 2.00 3.67 4.33
06-09UT 2.00 3.33 4.67 (G1)
09-12UT 2.33 3.33 3.00
12-15UT 2.33 3.33 3.33
15-18UT 3.67 3.33 4.00
18-21UT 4.00 3.33 5.00 (G1)
21-00UT 4.67 (G1) 3.33 4.33

Rationale: The geomagnetic field activity is likely to reach G1 (Minor)
geomagnetic storm levels on 06-08 Nov, with a chance for G2 (Moderate)
levels on 07-08 Nov, due to the anticipated influences of a negative
polarity CH HSS.

B. NOAA Solar Radiation Activity Observation and Forecast

Solar radiation, as observed by NOAA GOES-18 over the past 24 hours, was
below S-scale storm level thresholds.

Solar Radiation Storm Forecast for Nov 06-Nov 08 2026

              Nov 06 Nov 07 Nov 08
S1 or greater 5% 5% 5%

Rationale: No S1 (Minor) or greater solar radiation storms are expected.
No significant active region activity favorable for radiation storm
production is forecast.

C. NOAA Radio Blackout Activity and Forecast

Radio blackouts reaching the R1 levels were observed over the past 24
hours. The largest was at 05/1833Z UTC.

Radio Blackout Forecast for Nov 06-Nov 08 2026

              Nov 06 Nov 07 Nov 08
R1-R2 35% 35% 35%
R3 or greater 10% 10% 10%

Rationale: There is a chance for R1-R2 (Minor-Moderate) radio blackouts
and a slight chance for an isolated R3 (Strong) event on 06-08 Nov,
primarily due to the potential from Regions 4565 and 4566.

How our band outlook works

Ham Band Report converts the 10.7 cm solar flux into an effective sunspot number, then estimates typical mid-latitude maximum usable frequencies (MUF) for day and night. Each band gets a score from how far it sits below the MUF, minus daytime D-layer absorption (heavier on the low bands and during M- and X-class flares) and minus geomagnetic disturbance from the Kp and A indices.

Scores map to Good, Fair, Poor or Closed and an S-meter style reading. The "HF conditions index" averages the HF bands. It is a rule of thumb that ignores your location, season, path and antenna, so treat it as a starting point and listen on the air. For path predictions try VOACAP Online or the KC2G MUF map.
