Satellite tracker

Where the ham radio birds, space stations and communication satellites are right now. Positions are computed live in your browser from public orbital elements, updated by our server every few hours (elements fetched recently).

Optional: set your location to see look angles and passes. It never leaves your device.

Working the birds

  • FM birds (for example SO-50, AO-91 and the ISS cross-band repeater when active) work with a dual-band HT and a handheld Yagi.
  • Linear transponders (RS-44, AO-7, many CAS satellites) need SSB/CW and full-duplex gear. Inverting means your uplink goes up as the downlink goes down.
  • Correct for Doppler: on 70 cm the shift can reach about ±10 kHz. Listen to your own downlink.
  • Check AMSAT live status before a pass; transponders are often switched off or in safe mode.

Orbital elements: CelesTrak GP data (from U.S. Space Force public catalog). Transmitter frequencies: SatNOGS DB, CC BY-SA 4.0. Propagation: satellite.js (MIT license). Positions are SGP4 estimates and can be off by a few kilometers, more for old element sets or maneuvering satellites. Starlink and OneWeb load only when you turn them on.
